Write down the exact mismatch
Copy the conflicting titles, firm names, or office locations into your own research note, with one source beside each version. Include any published dates. A person may share a name with someone else, or a company may use several related brands. Keep those possibilities open until the identity is clear.
Compare like with like
Check whether the sources describe the same person, role, entity, and time period. A historical workbook and a current firm biography may both accurately describe different periods. A recorded import date tells you when the directory loaded a row; it does not tell you when the underlying information was last confirmed.
Resolve what matters before acting
Use the firm’s official contact route to confirm details that affect your next step. If the directory needs a correction, send the profile link and an authoritative supporting source through the corrections page. Record the answer and date in your notes. Keep unresolved fields marked as unknown in the comparison.
